Stora Enso, Microsoft Partner for Cloud-Based Intelligent Packaging Solutions

Stora Enso has collaborated with Microsoft to provide cloud-based intelligent packaging solutions for the global clients.

Stora Enso’s intelligent packaging will use Microsoft Azure, a cloud platform for business digitalization.

Microsoft Azure platform will enable secure data collection and analytics for clients investing in advanced intelligent packaging solutions.

Intelligent packaging by Stora Enso incorporates radio frequency identification (RFID) technology, which allows the product to be tracked, traced and tamper-proofed across the supply chain.

The near field communication (NFC) enabled smartphone will enable communication between the brand-owner and the end-user.

By using Microsoft cloud service, all data are gathered for analytics to support and improve business efficiency.

Stora Enso digitalization head and CIO senior vice president Teemu Salmi said: “Microsoft Azure offers a scalable and trustworthy platform for us and our globally operating clients.

“Now packaging data can be collected and analyzed anytime and anywhere, allowing customers an unprecedented amount of valuable information from supply chain performance to consumer behavior.”

Microsoft Western Europe marketing and operations general manager Marc Jalabert said: “Microsoft Azure delivers Internet of Things services which Stora Enso is leveraging to better serve their customers and provide fast service development, scalability and global reach.”

In October, Stora Enso deployed the cloud-based data management platform of Rubrik at its paper mill in Langerbrugge, Ghent to safeguard its virtual and physical workloads.

Stora Enso has deployed the software-only appliance Rubrik Edge to protect the seven remote office environments of the Langerbrugge mill across the UK, Belgium and Franc

Based in Helsinki, Stora Enso provides renewable solutions in packaging, biomaterials, paper and wooden constructions on global markets.
