Spain-based family owned coffee roaster Cafes Novell is introducing new compostable coffee capsule.
The Novell compostable capsule, which is set to be launched officially to the market at the London Coffee Festival, is made from bio-based materials including ecovio.
The new coffee capsule is designed to eliminate waste in up to 12 weeks and depending on the efficiency of the process composting process can be as fast as 4 weeks in a commercial composting environment.
UK Novell managing director Phil White said: “The new compostable capsule won’t alter the taste, aroma or quality of the certified Organic coffee.
“In addition, the capsule is fully compatible with all Nespresso machines and unlike most other capsules they can be thrown into organic recycling for composting instead of the general waste, overcoming one of the major concerns in the industry now.”
Cafes Novell said that the capsule is a completely composted product and creates no waste and damage to the environment.
Novell CEO Josep Novell said: “It is a clear commitment to innovation and strengthens Novell’s commitment to the environment by providing a solution to the issues surrounding capsule coffee and environmental concerns.”
The product also mitigates the environmental impact unlike currently caused by plastic and aluminium capsules.
