According to the indexes issued by the European Steel Association (EUROFER), local scrap prices in the European Union (EU) in January this year indicated an increase on month-on-month basis for the third month in a row.
Compared to December 2012, in January the new arisings price index saw a greater increase compared to shredded and demolition scrap. However, the year-on-year variation was negative for all the scrap categories in question.
