Demand for African Lumber in April and The Early Days of May Remained Below The Levels

The majority of European importers report that demand for African lumber in April and the early days of May remained below the levels recorded for the same time last year. After a good start in January, demand weakened noticeable throughout the course of February. There were only scattered reports of an upswing in March and April, too, most of which referred to the German market. In contrast, demand is reported to have been mostly slack in the Netherlands, the UK, and Ireland. The good development in business in Belgium up to and including May has evidently lost a little of its momentum in the last few weeks but remains comparatively satisfactory. From what importers active in Switzerland are saying, demand there is stable at the relatively high level of the previous months. Source: euwid-wood-products
