California Has Subscribed a New Bill That Will Bring Across Driverless Cars in The State

California has signed a new bill that will bring across self-driving (driverless) cars in the state.

California Governor Jerry Brown said that the state is looking at science-fiction becoming tomorrow's reality.

"Anyone who gets inside a car and finds out the car is driving will be a little skittish, but they'll get over it," Brown said.

The bill was signed at the Google headquarters, which has been, for several years, trialling a fleet of 12 autonomous computer-controlled vehicles that have registered more than 300,000 miles of self-driving.

Google co-founder Sergey Brin said: "I think the self-driving car can really dramatically improve the quality of life for everyone."

The bill, which requires California Department of Motor Vehicles to draft the regulations by 2015, will set up safety and performance rules to test and drive the vehicles.

According to Google, autonomous vehicles are expected to be commercially offered within ten years and the company is planning to collaborate with the automobile industry to produce them.

Nevada is the first state in the US to grant regulations that allow firms to test self driving vehicles in the state.
