San Clemente, Calif. – iPort is ready to ship versions of its LaunchPort and Control Mount products for the latest versions of Apple’s iPads.
Control Mount is an in-wall mounting kit that turns an iPad into an in-wall Wi-Fi-enabled controller of home-automation systems when the tablet runs a home-control app. It also charges the iPad.
LaunchPort is an inductive charging and magnetic-mounting system that comes in a tabletop version and an in-wall version.
The new Control Mount for the iPad Air begins shipping in February at $399.
For in-wall and tabletop charging of the iPad Air, the company plans February shipments of the $149 LaunchPort AP.5 sleeve, which mounts magnetically to a $199 Wall Station and to an angled-up $199 tabletop Base Station. Both stations use inductive charging to charge the iPad Air. The sleeve also adheres magnetically to refrigerators. On walls or on refrigerators, the magnetically mounted iPad Air can serve as a family information center, the company said.
For the iPad mini with Retina display, the company plans late-March shipments of the LaunchPort AM.2 sleeve at $139. It will charge an iPad mini in less than half the time as Apple’s 5-watt power adapter when mounted on the Wall Station or Base Station, iPort said.
Both sleeves come in soft-touch black and gloss white.
iPort, owned by Dana Innovations, also offers LaunchPort and Control Mount products for earlier iPad versions.
