Mavic’s sales rose 7 percent to $174 million (129 million euros) last year, and jumped 5 percent during the final quarter, according to Amer Sports. Amer Sports is the parent company of Mavic as well as Salomon, Atomic, Arc’teryx and other brands.
Amer Sports posted total sales of $2.9 billion (2.1 billion euros) for the year, up 5 percent over its 2011 sales. Fourth-quarter sales rose 8 percent.
Mavic’s cycling business was 6 percent of Amer Sports’ overall business last year. Sales of Mavic rims, wheels and tires represented 81 percent of cycling sales. The remainder of the business came from sales of apparel, helmets and footwear. Sales to Europe, the Middle East and Africa accounted for 67 percent of all cycling sales, with sales to the Americas (17 percent) and Asia Pacific (16 percent) rounding out its market.
