At CES this year, HP is showing the Officejet Pro X Color MFP, an office all-in-one inkjet that the company spokesperson at the event says will print 70 pages per minute. She said that laser printers are able to print that quickly, but this is the first inkjet to do so—making it the fastest inkjet printer out there.
What makes the Pro X Color MFP so speedy, in part, is its extra-long printer cartridge, the longest one I've ever seen. And being so long, it doesn't have to move; it simply spits the ink onto the paper. Although the cartridge will be quite pricey, HP claims it will last much longer than traditional inkjet cartridges.
At this time, there is no pricing information available, although HP says it will be competitively priced with laser printers, and that it should be available this spring. We'll be sure to check the claims when we get this model into our labs.
