Jaipur Home Is Building a New Factory That Will Be More Than 400,000 Square Feet

Accent and wood furniture manufacturer Jaipur Home says it is building a new factory here that will be more than 400,000 square feet.

Work on the plant is about 30% complete, according to President and CEO Subodh Johari. The facility is set on about 10 acres and will create 600 jobs, he added.

The capacity of new factory will be about 40 containers per month, Johari said. It will bring Jaipur's factory space here to about 1.5 million square feet. Production is anticipated to begin by the end of this year, he said.

He said the company is building the facility mainly to service product needs of its residential accents customers. The new facility will focus on goods with wood and metal construction. Increased demand for signature looks from India drove the decision to build, said Johari.

"Delivering the commitment and the time and speed is very very critical. We are surviving and thriving only for two reasons. One, for our innovative product. Two, we deliver (with) speed," he said.

"Our goal by 2015 is to employ 10,000 artisans and make product accessible to all of our target customers," he added.

The company last added factory space in August, when it opened a facility of about 240,000 square feet focusing on sheesham wood item production. That facility ships about 25 containers per month.

Jaipur operates a 100,000-squarefoot warehouse in Bentonville, Ark.
