According to the statistics released by the French Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry, in the first half of this year France's basic steel product and ferroalloy exports amounted to a value of €4.84 billion, increasing by 0.16 percent year on year.
During the period in question, France exported €1.09 billion of steel pipes and tubes - up two percent, €252.8 million of cold rolled steel strip - down 0.61 percent, €194.1 million of cold drawn wire - down 0.1 percent, €171.35 million of cold rolled steel bars - down 1.42 percent, €351.2 million of metal structures and parts - up 26.61 percent, all compared to January-June 2013.
Meanwhile, in the January-June period of this year France's basic steel product and ferroalloy imports totaled €4.35 billion, down 4.07 percent year on year.
During the given period, France imported €816.45 million of steel pipes and tubes - down 3.38 percent, €323.22 million of cold rolled steel strip - up 6.81 percent, €208.74 million of cold rolled steel bars - up 3.52 percent, €183.15 million of cold drawn wire - down 1.61 percent, and €696.69 million of metal structures and parts - up 7.31 percent, all compared to the same period of the previous year.
