On January 8, the China Iron and Steel Association (CISA) stated that in late December (Dec. 21-31) 2012 the average aggregate daily crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China totaled 1,613,100 mt, down 0.63 percent compared to mid-December (Dec.11-20). In late December, the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China was estimated at 1,900,700 mt, indicating a decrease of 0.53 percent compared with mid-December.
In mid-December, the average aggregate daily crude steel output of large and medium-sized steel enterprises in China had totaled 1,623,300 mt, down 2.03 percent compared to early December (Dec.1-10). In mid-December, the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China was estimated at 1,910,900 mt, indicating a decrease of 1.75 percent compared with early December.The CISA stated that the average aggregate daily crude steel production of all steelmakers in China in December 2012 will record a month-on-month decrease.
China’s total crude steel production in December 2012 is estimated at 58.845 million mt, while the country’s total crude steel output in 2012 is predicted at 718.97 million mt, up 5.2 percent year on year. In 2011, China’s crude steel output had increased by 8.9 percent year on year.
