The upcoming McLaren P1 supercar will feature a new vehicle-altering ‘Race’ mode function when it is unveiled in full production-ready specification at next month’s Geneva motor show.
Selecting the “highly-focused” ‘Race’ mode will see the large active rear wing of the McLaren P1 extend and alter its pitch into the optimal aerodynamic position, while inside the P1’s digital dash readout will take the form of a race-inspired display providing information on the car’s performance levels.
In this mode, the top of the screen will feature a bank of lights that illuminate green, red and blue, working together as a shift indicator for drivers.
A short video from McLaren shows the car’s transition into ‘Race’ mode, while also giving a brief sound bite of the English supercar.
Last week the McLaren P1 made a guest appearance at the unveiling of the 2013 McLaren Mercedes Formula One car, being steered by the team’s 2009 F1 World Champion Jenson Button.
The 2013 Geneva motor show kicks off on March 5.
