Ecorrugated Said That It Is The First Firm to Use 'Next Box'Its Board-Making Machines

UK-based Ecorrugated said that it is the first firm to use a new lightweight corrugated board in its board-making machines called ‘Next Box’.

According to Ecorrugated, the board, engineered by specialist manufacturer Prowell, delivers a 10% improvement in ECT (electroconvulsive therapy) and an enhanced surface structure for quality printing, according to packagingnews.co.uk.

Ecorrugated director Paul Lavelle said the Next Box is an exciting development which will facilitate the company to offer greener, cheaper packaging, besides addressing the issue of growing demand for shelf ready lighter packaging.

"The challenge is to deliver this at much lower prices without compromising on quality. By combining the latest board technology from Prowell with our production expertise, we are in a unique position to offer customers cheaper, retail ready packaging for bespoke box designs and print requirements," Lavelle said.

Ecorrugated said it has supported the development with investment in the latest EMBA 170 machines for its purpose built factory.

It can offer possibly the lightest paper configurations on the market which can manufacture boxes with a 70g configuration (70g paper on the outside and inside of the box with 70g fluting).

The firm said that Next Box offers both cost and environmental benefits as it uses 5% less material and, is both lighter and thinner than its counterparts, reducing logistics journeys by 20%.
