In November 2012 Turkey's Steel Scrap Imports Fell 14.4 Percent

According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute (TUIK), in November 2012 Turkey's steel scrap imports fell 14.4 percent compared to October and were down 9.4 percent compared to the same month of 2011, amounting to 1.7 million metric tons. Turkey's scrap imports returned to August levels in November, after recording month-on-month increases in September and October.

Meanwhile, in the first 11 months of 2012 Turkey's scrap imports amounted to 20.6 million mt, increasing by 6.6 percent compared to the same period of the previous year. Scrap imports from the US in the first 11 months of the year amounted to 5.9 million mt, rising by 13.7 percent year on year.
