Plastics and packaging company DS Smith’s Plastics Division has added a new fold-flat plastics container, Duca-Pak, to its Uni-Pak family which produces durable, foldable containers.
These plastic containers recently won the Magna Logistics Supplier's award for innovation and will be exhibited at the upcoming exhibition Salon de l'Emballage in Paris, France.
The company says that with the launch of the new product, the company's Plastics Division is delivering higher standards in performance, weight, folding/unfolding time, space, reusability and recyclability
The internal volume capacity and height of Duca-Pak is said to be 15% more than existing 'optimised return solutions' and is said to have increased ergonomics.
The container's lid weighs less than 6kg. Its integrated belt system helps to interlock the pallet and the sleeve and replaces locks.
The lid comes with four hooks to fix it on the pallet while loading the container due to which the container uses lesser space.
The company employs '6 seconds' ease of use systems, which means that it takes approximately six seconds to fold or unfold each container. These have been integrated to the new Duca-Pak design.
DS Smith, Plastics' Division business Mark Lightowler said: "Duca-Pak has been designed with the highest standards of performance in mind. Durability, efficiency, re-usability and recyclability.
"All damaged elements of this container can be easily recycled at the end of their working life and turned into new containers. This is in line with DS Smith's Supply Cycle Thinking that eliminates complexity, embraces reusability and recyclability in the design of our products."
The company has used recycled material to produce the core of the foldable sleeve which ensures increased performance to vertical compression.
