Almera Sedan in Russia Is Launched by Nissan

Japanese carmaker Nissan has unveiled its new Almera sedan at the Moscow International Autosalon in Russia.

The new Almera has been designed for the Russian market and will be built locally at the company's Togliatti facility.

The new car is powered by a 1.6-litre 16 valve petrol engine, which will be mated to either a five-speed manual or four-speed automatic transmission, will deliver 102 hp and 145 Nm torque.

Nissan's new Almera sedan will be offered in three grades including Welcome, Comfort and Tekna, and will come with active and passive safety features including anti-lock brakes, plus driver and front passenger airbags as standard.

Nissan Russia managing director Fran?ois Goupil de Bouille said the Almera brings a new dynamic to the mainstream market by offering an upscale feel and D-segment spaciousness but at a B-segment price.

"We have gone to great lengths to create a car that will not only appeal to the increasingly more discerning Russian consumer in terms of looks, equipment and quality but one that will also cope with the unique demands of the market, the weather and the local road conditions," Fran?ois Goupil de Bouille said.

The company said that the new Almera sedan is expected to be launched in early 2013 in the Russian market.
