Ocean Spray Is Eyeing to Boost Cranberry Production Through Its Canada Farm

US-based agricultural cooperative Ocean Spray is eyeing to boost cranberry production through its Canada farm.

It celebrated the first harvest of Cranberry farm in Rogersville,New Brunswick, Canada.The 125-acre farm has a yield of about 1m pounds of cranberries with an expected increased yield of 3m pounds. The company has invested nearly $10m to date in New Brunswick to develop the cranberry farm and prepare the site for future development.

The company has secured a 90-year lease on 8,500 acres of provincial land located 18 kms west of the community of Rogersville.

Ocean Spray will continue the expansion of the cranberry bogs in the area through strategic partnerships.

Ocean Spray CEO Randy Papadellis said hat the company is currently in talks with members of the Mi'gmag First Nations and another private cranberry group to bring between 200 and 400 new cranberry acres onto this site as early as next year.
