Xeikon has developed a new fuser drum Alpine, which has a flexible outer layer to help to produce consistent print on uneven as well as textured media, specifically on recycled board stocks.
According to the Netherlands-based company, the Alpine 516 fuser drum is part of its Folding Carton Suite and will be offered as an option for the two 508mm wide printing presses in the Xeikon 3000 Series from June 2013.
The two presses including Xeikon 3050 and Xeikon 3500 can print B2 and longer formats on board for folding carton.
Xeikon product management director Jeroen Van Bauwel said the drum has a rubber-like coating, which can adapt to the form of the surface.
"The Alpine fuser drum really widens the range of carton materials that can be printed within the Xeikon Folding Carton Suite," Bauwel said.
The drum can be used with smooth surfaced card substrates and papers as well as with the rougher textured surfaces.
