Procter & Gamble (P&G) Fabric Care has declared a green drive deploying recycled packaging via Post Consumer Recyclate (PCR) and making 230 million bottles out of it for flagship brands, such as Ariel, Dash, Lenor and Unstoppables.
In its mission towards achieving a greater environmental sustainability, the first lot of such P&G Fabric Care bottles is likely to hit the retail stores in the first half of 2016. It envisages that 100% of its products and packaging are derived from renewable and recycled materials.
It has been estimated that all the 230 million bottles could cover the distance between the North Pole and the South Pole if all of them are placed in a linear fashion by joining ends of one another.
P&G global fabric and home care group president Gianni Ciserani said, "The increase in Post Consumer Recyclate in the packaging of our Fabric Care brands is a huge step in the right direction. We want to make it easier for consumers to choose sustainable brands whilst continuing to deliver superior product performance."

Adoption of the drive will result in the company's increased usage of incremental recycled material a year by 3.8 kilo tons.
