Orbis, a manufacturer of reusable packaging and supply chain optimization expert, is launching GitterPak – an all-plastic, collapsible bulk container that can hold up to 900 kg – for the European market.
Aimed at replacing fixed-wall gitterboxes, metal tubs, and wooden crates, the GitterPak improves product protection and pack density for heavy loads and high-velocity goods.
The GitterPak (Model HDB1208) is designed to the European standard 1200x800 dimension, making it ideal for sequencing parts, and right-sizing part shipments for line-side assembly and work-in-process operations, the company said.
The all-plastic GitterPak is easy to clean, prevents rust and metal-on-metal part damage.
The GitterPak offers several advantages in terms of logistics and cost-savings for warehouses, and is an environmentally friendly alternative to steel tubs, wood pallets and crates.
It can be folded when empty, allowing more containers per truck. A standard truck can transport 264 collapsed GitterPaks, compared to 78 non-collapsible gitterboxes.
GitterPak is available with four access doors for easy loading and unloading. It also offers multiple identification options to meet specific material handling and supply chain needs of customers.
Another feature of GitterPak is the three-runner base, which allows it to fit into racking or automation systems standardized to the 1200x800 dimension. The double-wall construction helps the GitterPak to withstand impact from fork trucks.
