Melitta USA has introduced UpShot Solution equipment at its coffee roasting facility in Cherry Hill, New Jersey to produce its own Melitta Cafe de Europa Gourmet Single Cup Coffee.
The company will also provide manufacturing options such as roasting, filling and packaging services to third party brands from its facility.
The UpShot Solution, which is developed by LBP Manufacturing, features an eco-friendly single-serve filter composed of 100% recyclable polypropylene that Melitta will fill with coffee.
Compatible with Keurig and other single-serve brewers, the filter delivers a sensory appeal to the brewing process and enables consumers to see and smell their coffee, said the company.
The installation marks another update to the company's Cherry Hill facility, following a $10m upgrade completed in 2011.
Melitta marketing vice president Chris Hillman said, "The installation of this state-of-the-art equipment is a significant addition to our facility - one that will support future growth, partnerships and continued innovation on behalf of Melitta."
