German automobile manufacturer Opel has launched the new Meriva multi purpose vehicle (MPV) for the domestic market at the 2013 Chengdu Motor Show in China.
The new vehicle is powered by 1.4L turbocharged engine that generates maximum output of 88kW at 4,800-6,000 rpm when mated to an ActiveSelect six-speed automatic transmission.
GM China Opel Operations director Luo Yong said that the company has brought several important members from its global product portfolio to China in 2013.
"This represents our commitment to meet the strong demand for high-quality German-engineered vehicles in a key market for Opel," Yong added.
Meriva comes with Opel's signature design elements including a front feature line, an outward horizontal grille, and a combination of boomerang-like curved daytime running lights as well as eagle-eye headlamps.
The MPV also features intelligent safety systems including the electronic stability program, adaptive forward lighting, and front and rear parking sensors as well as the ISOFIX system.
Opel will also display its Insignia Sports Tourer, Zafira Tourer and Astra GTC as well as the new Opel Antara at the motor show.
