Uflex Develops New Packaging Solution for UK's Rice Supplier Veetee

India-based flexible packaging firm Uflex has developed a new three dimensional packaging solution for Veetee, a rice supplier in the UK.

The new pack features a front openability through a Slide to Close (STC) zipper intended to allow consumers to use required amount of product.

The re-closable pack’s front, back and bottom panels are a 3ply structure involving stackable polyester/metallized polyester/ polyethylene (sealant layer).

The firm manufactured the packs’ side panels/ gussets with polyester/ polyester/ polyethylene to make it transparent, thus allowing consumers to see through the rice packed inside.

Uflex global exports joint president packaging Anup Sachdeva said: “In the bespoke packaging solution that we engineered for Veetee Rice, we have offered a handle that’s on the side gusset. It is baby soft and is made of a special proprietary polymeric composition.

“The pack being Three Dimensional (3D) has 5 panels that are fully utilized for offering a 360 degree branding canvas emphatically engaging the consumers at the point of sale (POS).”

Uflex said that the new packaging solution is made of stackable polyester film as the top substrate/layer (in the laminate) to address the slippage issues.

Sachdeva added: Conventionally paper with high coefficient of friction has been used and placed under each layer of stack during the process of palletization.”

Overall, the new solution addresses Veetee’s packaging concerns including diminished shelf appeal of the big bags at the POS; ergonomic discomfiture while carrying the bags; restricted openabilty; and poor stack ability, Uflex said.
