Swiss-based SMS Concast has announced that it has revamped the continuous casting machine of Peru-based steel producer Empresa Siderúrgica Del Perú (Siderperú), part of Brazil-based steelmaker Gerdau Group, in Chimbote, Peru, thereby significantly improving its production process. The new mold equipment supplied by SMS Concast casts 224 mm square sections.
Additionally, Siderperú has already signed two follow-up orders. SMS Concast will thus also supply new equipment to cast 180 mm and 130 mm square sections.
