EU-28 Construction Output Down 1.6 Percent Compared to The Same Month of 2012

According to first estimates released by Eurostat, the Statistical Office of the European Communities, in November last year the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in the European Union member states (EU-28) decreased 1.1 percent as compared to October and was down 1.6 percent compared to the same month of 2012. In October, production had decreased by 0.3 percent compared to the previous month.

In the euro area, the seasonally-adjusted production of the construction sector in November last year fell 0.6 percent month on month, while decreasing by 1.7 percent compared to November 2012. In October, production had decreased by 1.1 percent compared to September, according to the newly revised data.

Building construction in the EU-28 in November decreased by 1.4 percent both on month-on-month and year-on-year basis, while civil engineering output decreased by 0.3 percent from October and was down 3.2 percent year on year.

As compared to October, construction output in November increased in Slovenia by 9.6 percent, in Poland by 3.9 percent and in Hungary by three percent, while a decrease of 5.6 percent was registered in the Czech Republic, a decline of 4.9 percent was recorded in Romania and a decrease of four percent was seen in the UK.

As compared to November 2012, construction output increased in Slovenia by 30.7 percent, in Hungary by 18.9 percent and in Sweden by 5.9 percent, while a decrease of 13 percent was registered in Portugal, a decline of 10.8 percent was recorded in Italy and a decline of 9.1 percent was recorded in Bulgaria.
