On April 8, Hebei Province-based Chinese steelmaker Hebei Iron and Steel Group announced that in the first quarter of the current year its subsidiary Hebei Iron and Steel Group Mining Co. (Hebei Steel Mining) produced 1.8421 million mt of iron ore concentrate, up by 3.69 percent year on year, exceeding the target for the quarter by 22,100 mt.
Meanwhile, in the first quarter Hebei Steel Group’s Hebei-based subsidiary Handan Iron and Steel Co. (Hansteel) supplied 13,000 mt of hot dip galvanized (HDG) steel sheet to local household appliance producer Midea Handan Co., double the total supply volume in 2012 and constituting 80 percent of the total purchase volume of Midea Handan Co. for the quarter
