Specialist Computer Holdings has sold off its distribution arm, Specialist Distribution Group to Tech Data Corporation for an estimated value of €277m (£219m).
The move will see SCH concentrate on its remaining higher-margin services division, Specialist Computer Centres. SCC recently became the first company to win accreditation on the government’s CloudStore.
James Rigby, SCC's managing director, said: "Our clear strategy is to position SCC as the technology and cloud solutions partner of choice for mid-sized companies and government organisations. We see huge potential in the market opportunity which sits between global SIs [system integrators] and local players, where there are few quality partners in that space who have our range and depth.”
Robert Dutkowsky, CEO Tech Data Corporation, said: "This transaction demonstrates Tech Data's strong commitment to our diversification strategy and further expands our enterprise offerings in Europe.
"It adds both breadth and depth to our product and customer portfolios, and creates a comprehensive enterprise solution stack in networking and communications, server and storage and Enterprise Software across a broader pan-European footprint,” he said.
Total consideration payable under the terms of the agreement is estimated to be €277m, subject to customary adjustments, which includes a purchase premium of approximately €170m, said Tech Data in a statement.
