Sausage Products with Labeling Error Are Being Recalled by Stehouwer's Frozen Foods

Stehouwer's Frozen Foods, a Michigan establishment, is recalling 6,039lbs of Pigs in the Blanket products as they contain milk, an ingredient that is not mentioned on the label, according to the US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS).

Stehouwer's Frozen Foods recalls sausage products over labeling error

The recall was initiated after the problem was discovered by a FSIS inspection personnel during a routine label review.

The products subject to recall include 13.5lb cases of Stehouwer's Pigs in the Blanket. Each case contains 12 individual 18oz. packs of Stehouwer's Pigs in the Blanket.

These products were manufactured on 27 September 2012, 25 October 2012, and 13 December 2012, and bear use by dates of 27 September 2013, 25 October 2013, and 13 December 2013.

The recalled products also include 5lb bulk packages of 'Stehouwer's Pigs in the Blanket produced on 25 October 2012, bearing use by date of 102513. These packages have been labeled 'For Institutional Use Only.'

Each case and pack bears the establishment number 'EST. 6814' inside the USDA mark of inspection.
