It is reported that a USD 115 million contract for Chinese firm Dongfang Electric Corporation to supply Iraqi Republic Railways with 10 diesel multiple units was signed in Baghdad on December 15th.
The first two units are scheduled to be delivered within a year.IRR said that the 160 kilometer per hour train sets would be modern,sophisticated and built to a high specification.
The national railway is paying 10%of the contract value up front,with the remainder to be paid in installments as each batch of trains is delivered.
