Amcor Has Introduced a New Recyclable Barrier Liner for Bag-in-Box Foods

Australian packaging company Amcor has introduced a new recyclable barrier liner for bag-in-box foods, the Amcor Vodex Generation II, which offers better protection.

Vodex Generation II, which is a co-extruded packaging solution, is claimed to offer protection from moisture and mineral oil hydrocarbon (MOH) migration, while maintaining better consumer experience.

According to the company, the new packaging solution also provides longer shelf-life, easy-opening, better packaging machine performance and increased value for money.

Amcor Flexibles Europe and America food and beverage vice president Amy Byrick said the Amcor Vodex Generation II is the complete and cost effective solution to existing marketplace needs.

"A barrier liner such as Amcor Vodex, directly next to the food, helps protect it from external sources of contaminant which is a significant advantage over the use of virgin carton board alone," Byrick added.

The new product can be designed to meet specific requirements including barrier, puncture resistance and cost.

Amcor had invested in its extrusion facility for high density polyethylene (HDPE) products facility in Cumbria, UK for further development of Amcor Vodex products.
