Some New Evidences for The Existence of Element 115 Have Been Presented by a Team

Some new evidences for the existence of element 115 have been presented by a team of Swedish scientists.

The evidence was published Tuesday in the U.S. scientific journal "Physical Review Letters".

The element is highly radioactive and can merely exist for less than a second before decaying into other lighter atoms.

The experiment was conducted at the GSI research facility in Germany, where scientists have previously discovered six other new elements.

"This was a very successful experiment and is one of the most important in the field in recent years", said the lead researcher Dirk Rudolph, who is an atomic physics professor of Lund University in Sweden.

First detected by Russian scientists in 2004, the super-heavy element has yet to be verified by the science authority.

The research will be reviewed by a committee consists of members of the international unions of pure and applied physics and chemistry, who will decide whether to recommend further experiments before the new element is formally added into periodic table.
