Monty Sihweil has been promoted to president of accent furniture specialist Butler Specialty.
Sihweil, the first non-family member to become president of the 83-year-old company, most recently was executive vice president of sales. He has led Butler's growth for the last five years as a major resource for Internet retailers, according to the company.
Third-generation owner David Bergman, formerly president and CEO, remains CEO. Sihweil reports to him.
"In Monty's 10 years at Butler, he has exhibited a determination to do things at an exemplary level," Bergman said in a press release. "His focused work ethic is extremely admirable. Monty has never backed down from a challenge and works with the highest level of integrity in all areas he handles.
"He is astute and has a wonderful understanding of our business model and our industry. I know this company will be stronger and continue to flourish with Monty working alongside me," Bergman said.
Sihweil joined Butler Specialty in February 2003 as director of account development. Before joining the company, he was an accounts representative at Serta and manager for John M. Smyth's Homemakers.
"I'm very excited about the opportunity to help lead Butler Specialty Company to new levels of success," he said. "Our business model is clearly working well, and I embrace the future knowing we have all key pieces in place for strong, sustained growth."
