Netherlands-based packaging company Clondalkin has released a new packaging option for Thornton's Chocolate Box.
Developed together by Clondalkin Consumer Great Harwood and Clondalkin Pharma and Healthcare Northampton, the new box mimics 'Santa's House Selection Pack', which is a personalized selection box in the style of a house, featuring a porch with an open and close option.
The house is made with tuck-end carton, which includes four windows and graphics that look like the front of a house, and home, including chocolate Christmas characters, along with Santa.
According to the firm, the porch was created using a special tuck-end carton with a sloped top, to give the impression of a roof.
Created with a fifth panel, which allows the porch to be opened, the Santa can be individually iced in-store with a personalized message and the window panel can then be re-closed.
Clondalkin Pharma and Healthcare division business development manager Jon Basford said the firm's new design comes in a unique carton style with strong shelf-appeal and can be easily constructed.
"The process of fitting the porch to the house, after filling, needed to be simple and easy for Thornton's operation team, but secure enough to endure the distribution process," Basford added.
