EUROFER and EuroMetaux have published a joint brochure entitled Recycling Rates for Metals. The brochure supports valid and harmonised recyclability and recycling measurement approaches. These are essential for measuring improvement potential as well as the achievement of legislative targets. Recycling Rates for Metals presents a set of recycling indicators and explains how to measure them.
The aim of the brochure is to boost harmonized collection and reporting of recycling data, the European steel industry is a world leader in its sector with a turnover of EUR 170 billion and direct employment of 360 thousand highly skilled people, producing on average 190 million tonnes of steel per year. More than 500 steel production and processing sites in 23 EU member states provide direct and indirect employment and a living for millions of European citizens.
EUROMETAUX constitutes the interface between the European non-ferrous metals industry and the European authorities and international or intergovernmental bodies. It is committed to establishing dialogue with the latter in order to ensure early consultation in all fields of policy and legislation that may affect industry and to asserting the sector’s views and positions in this respect.
