Qalaa Holdings Contemplates The Sale of Its Fresh Packaged Milk Producing Firm Dina Farms

Egyptian private equity firm Qalaa Holdings is contemplating the sale of its fresh packaged milk producing firm Dina Farms.

The potential sale is in line with Qalaa's plans to generate around $300m from exits in the medium term.

The company is also considering the sale of its confectioner Rashidi El-Mizan.

Said to be the largest dairy producer in Egypt, Dina Farms has around 67% share in the country's fresh pasteurized milk products market.

In addition to fresh pasteurized milk products, Dina supplies raw milk to local producers of processed dairy products.

The company claims that it has received interests from potential investors for its agrifoods businesses.

Qalaa co-founder and managing director Hisham El-Khazindar said: "Any divestiture would achieve the twin aim of significantly accelerating the deleveraging of Qalaa, while simultaneously funding growth opportunities in core subsidiaries generally, and in nationally significant energy projects specifically, including fuels bunkering and storage project Mashreq in the Suez Canal and large-scale power generation projects by TAQA Arabia."

EFG Hermes Investment Banking has been selected by Qalaa to advise on the potential sale.

Earlier in July 2014, Dina Farms announced plans to expand its retail presence, with the launch of new retail outlets in the country.
