Indian state-owned steelmaker Steel Authority of India (SAIL) has announced that it has commissioned the new sinter machine and the coke oven battery No. 11 at its Bhilai steel plant.
According to SAIL, these two units are critical components of its ongoing modernization and expansion program, which would enhance the plant's production capacity to 7.5 million mt per year of pig iron from the current level of around 5 million mt per year.
The new seven meter-tall coke oven battery will enhance the plant's coke-making capacity by 880,000 mt per year, while the new sinter machine will produce 3,708 mt of sinter per year.
