China's Electricity Consumption Rose 7.5 Percent Year-on -Year in 2013

China's electricity consumption, a key indicator of economic activity, rose 7.5 percent year-on -year in 2013, the National Energy Administration (NEA) said on Tuesday.

The amount of electricity used last year was 5.32 trillion kilowatt-hours, according to a statement on the NEA's website. This amount represented a growth of 2 percentage points from 2012.

The services sector consumed 10.3 percent more electricity than a year earlier, and the industrial sector consumed 7 percent more, the NEA said.

Power used by the agricultural sector was 0.7 percent more than a year earlier, the statement said.
