Business Activity on German and Foreign Softwood Lumber Markets Hasn't Increased to Extent

Southern and western German softwood lumber producers are of the opinion that business activity on German and foreign softwood lumber markets has not increased to any significant extent even now the summer holiday period is over. Although businesses occasionally registered a slightly brisker influx of orders at the beginning of September, these were mostly only for modest top-up volumes. The frequency of enquiries and receipts of orders tailed off again towards the end of the month and, from what companies are saying, are currently at best on par with or, in numerous cases, below the otherwise usual level for this time of year. According to suppliers, there have not yet been any signs of an autumn upswing is the pace of business on the sales markets in German-speaking Europe. Source: euwid-wood-products
