Microsoft has formally announced Forza Motorsport 6 with a special Ford GT deal.
The next game in the Forza Motorsport series has been announced for an exclusive Xbox One launch with the new Ford GT cover.
According to Turn 10’s John Wendl, the Ford GT deal allowed the developers, engineers and the designers to work closely with Ford during the designing stages of the car and the game.
“We’ve been doing this game series for a long time,” explained Wendl to Polygon. “But this is the first time we’ve been able to launch a car and a game at the same time.”
Apart from the fact the game will feature the Ford GT, Shelby GT350 Mustang and F-150 Raptor, we know very few details about the game.
Those three cars made their real-world debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit, which is where Forza Motorsport 6 was confirmed as well.
Ford decided to enter the Forza deal as a way to get younger generations excited about cars and driving again.
"Our challenge is to figure out how to get the younger generation to be really interested in cars,” said Ford’s Dave Pericak. “It’s different htan in the past when we went into the garage and became passionate about what we saw. The love for driving is there but it’s about how you foster and nurture that love.”
In development at Turn 10 Studios, the first gameplay for Forza Motorsport 6 will be shown off at E3 2015 in June.
The TrustedReviews award-winning spin-off Forza Horizon 2 is developed by Playground Games, but the core Forza Motorsport series has always been a Turn 10 title.
According to Turn 10 Studios Creative Director, Dan Greenawalt, Forza 6 is going to be the “most technically advanced racing simulation to date, offering a fun and realistic automotive experience for both car lovers and gamers.”
2015 is actually the 10 year anniversary of the Forza Motorsport series, which started back in 2005 on the original Xbox.
There’s no confirmed release date for Forza Motorsport 6, but we expect it to be released at the tail end of 2015.
Forza Motorsport 5 was released on November 22, 2013.
