The sale of electric vehicles (EV) in China is expected to reach 500,000 units by 2015 and to 5 million by 2020, according to a report.
Research and Markets' "China Electric Vehicle Industry Report, 2012" report revealed that the rise in sales follow the launch of EV plan in April 2012 which is expected to speed up the development pace of manufacturers of EVs and related components.
The report revealed that China has been promoting EVs 25 pilot cities in and utilisation of charging stations in major pilot cities since 2009, but the result was immature.
In 2011, China had only sold 8,000 EVs which accounted to less than 1% of the total global EV sales volume.
