Two projects with celebrated lighting schemes by Arup have made the shortlist for this year's Stirling Prize.
The Sainsbury Laboratory, which won the inaugural Daylight Award at the 2012 Lighting Design Awards, and the Hepworth Wakefield museum, which was highly commended in the same category, feature in the prestigious RIBA shortlist.

Arup's Arfon Davies, who was responsible for the lighting design of the Sainsbury Laboratory, said of the selection: "We are delighted that both the Sainsbury Laboratory and Hepworth Wakefield Gallery project have been shortlisted for the RIBA Stirling Prize […] These projects demonstrate how a clear and well considered approach to daylight design can produce exemplary architecture. This was achieved through successful collaboration between the architect and daylighting specialist and by considering daylight design early on in the process.
"Previously, daylight was considered to be within the architectural scope. There is now a revived demand for daylight design and it is evident how daylight specialists working closely with architects can make a real difference."
