UCSF Medical Center Purchases BSD Medical's BSD-2000 Hyperthermia System

University of California San Francisco (UCSF) Medical Center has purchased BSD Medical's BSD-2000 hyperthermia system.

UCSF Medical Center is involved in providing advanced technology and care to patients suffering with cancer.

By applying radiofrequency energy, the BSD-2000 system delivers localized therapeutic heating to destroy the tumors.

The company said the BSD-2000 has obtained humanitarian device exemption marketing approval from the US Food and Drug Administration for use in conjunction with radiation therapy for the treatment of cervical cancer patients, who are ineligible for chemotherapy.

BSD Medical president Harold Wolcott said UCSF Medical Center recently purchased the company's BSD-500 hyperthermia system.

"We are pleased they have decided to also offer the innovative capabilities of the BSD-2000 to their patients," Wolcott added.
