According to report of Latin American Steel Association (ALACERO), Latin America has become the 2nd largest destination for Chinese exports of steel products between January and September, 2012, around 9% of total China’s export. There were 3.2 million tons of steel products entered the region during the 9 months period, which was 18.7% up compare the same period in 2011.
The top countries imported Chinese steel products are Brazil with 649,763 tons, Chile with 576,594 tons and Peru with 491,526 tons; Mexico was the country with the highest import growth rate, from 132,974 tons to 293,873 tons, an up of 121%, in the same period.
