Solar cell maker Motech reported first-quarter 2013 consolidated revenues of NT$3.667 billion (US$124 million), representing an on-quarter increase of 11% but an on-year decrease of 6%. Gross margin in the first quarter was negative 8% compared to negative 15.7% in the fourth quarter of 2012. Net loss was NT$646 million, according to the firm. Motech reported first-quarter shipments of 351MW, higher than that 313MW in the fourth quarter of 2012.
Meanwhile, solar conductive paste firm Giga Solar has reported first-quarter consolidated revenues of NT$1.051 billion, showing an on-year increase of 13%. The firm also reported first-quarter gross margin of 21.89%, down from 32.04% in the first quarter of 2012. The firm saw net profits reach NT$183 million, down 3% on year.
