PerkinElmer has rolled out two new chemical structure drawing & visualization applications, namely ChemDraw and Chem3D, for iPad.

Featuring PerkinElmer's Flick-to-Share technology, both ChemDraw and Chem3D apps will enable scientists to collaborate and share critical information in real-time in and out of the laboratory.

PerkinElmer vice president and general manager, informatics Michael Stapleton said the new technology will provide all chemists ranging from research scientists to high school students with cost effective, portable and accessible applications that capture and share inspiration.

"Now everyone, from relative newcomers to the most experienced chemists, can quickly sketch and save ideas and then easily share them, bringing the power of PerkinElmer's ChemDraw and Chem3D technology to the fingertips of researchers," Stapleton added.

Extensively used as a standard drawing tool by not only by chemists in education and R&D, ChemDraw is also used for drawing publishing structures in scientific articles, journals and patents.

The Chem3D application is a molecular viewer that enables users to download 3D structures of many types and display them with unique versatility.

ChemDraw software suite was first made available on the Macintosh in 1986, enabling scientists to draw, study and save molecules and chemical reactions.
