MACOM Introduces 2W High-Power Amplifier

M/A-COM Technology Solutions Inc of Lowell, MA, USA (which makes semiconductors, components and subassemblies for analog RF, microwave, millimeter-wave and photonic applications) has launched a power amplifier designed specifically for 18GHz wireless backhaul applications.

Covering the 17.6-19.75GHz frequency band in a 7mm, lead-free, cavity package, the MAAP-011145 features a temperature-compensated integrated power detector, and includes ESD protection and by-pass capacitors to ease the implementation and volume assembly of the packaged part.

The MAAP-011145 has over 2 watts output power at 1dB compression point (P1dB of 34dBm), 25dB small-signal gain, a third-order intercept point (OIP3) of 43dBm and a noise figure of 7dB and 34.5dBm of saturated output power.

"The outstanding technical performance of our new MAAP-011145 power amplifier, coupled with our broad portfolio of switches, LNAs [low-noise amplifiers] and diodes, provides point-to-point radio designers with an elegant solution for next-generation 18GHz point-to-point radio designs," believes product manager Stuart Cornelius.

Production quantities and samples of the MAAP-011145 are available from stock.
