According to the data provided by the Turkish Statistical Institute(TUIK),in October this year Turkey's coking coal imports rose 31.7 percent compared to the previous month and were up 34 percent compared to October 2011,totaling 2.7 million metric tons.In October,the country's coking coal imports reached the highest level recorded year-to-date in 2012.
In the first 10 months of 2012,Turkey's coking coal imports totaled 22.2 million metric tons,increasing 19.4 percent compared to January-October 2011.Imports from Russia in the period in question amounted to 7.67 million metric tons,rising by 10 percent,while imports from Colombia in the first 10 months of the current year amounted to 5.5 million mt,up 23.5 percent,both compared to the same period of 2011.
