Conning, a global provider of asset management services for the insurance industry, has entered into a strategic alliance with Ramius Alternative, a developer and manager of customized alternative investment portfolios.
Under the partnership, both the firms will develop a variety of alternative investment tailored strategies jointly using liquid instruments such as exchange-traded funds and total return swaps to produce returns that have low correlations to existing client portfolios.
The alliance will significantly lower fees and capital charges as well as provide greater transparency and liquidity while meeting the insurance companies' specific needs.
Additionally, Conning will integrate its insurance asset management and strategic asset allocation expertise with RASL's alternative asset strategies experience.
Investment committee comprising senior professionals from both firms will manage the client strategies.
