Smurfit Kappa Launches New Vitop Handle for Cardboard Boxes

Smurfit Kappa and Vitop have introduced a new handle for use on a range of of cardboard boxes.

The Vitop handle is claimed to be made from 100% recyclable polyethylene.

Smurfit Kappa said the handle is soft and smooth. It has been launched in black and white colours.

The company says that even if a heavy box has to be carried, marks would not come on hands and fingers which are protected by the smoothness of the Vitop handle.

According to Smurfit Kappa, the handle stays intact in the holes of the box owing to the patented system of special ribs and lugs, making it highly resistant and near impossible to be detached from the box.

Vitop general manager Didier Pontcharraud said: “The Vitop handle is a very useful addition to our portfolio which maximises package convenience.

“It has been a great success over the last decade and we expect it to grow even more thanks to its launch within other markets.”

Smurfit Kappa, which offers complete bag-in-box packaging solutions, said that it has worked along with Vitop, a producer of bag-in-box taps and connectors for many years on the new handle.

Manufacturers can insert the handles manually or automatically using the handle insertion machine from Vitop. The machine is equipped to handle various formats, sizes and shapes of boxes.

By adjusting the head of the machine, the insertion angle of the handle can alternate between straight and diagonal.

The equipment claimed to be easy to use, flexible and efficient is expected to deliver considerable working comfort and productivity gains.
