Pack Expo: Records Fall in Vegas

Show owner and producer PMMI, The Association for Packaging and Processing Technologies, reports preliminary data for PACK EXPO Las Vegas 2015 and the co-located Pharma EXPO (Las Vegas Convention Center, Sept. 28-30) shows a four per cent increase in attendance over the record PACK EXPO Las Vegas set in 2013.

Last week’s event, which welcomed nearly 28,699 attendees (5232 of which were international) included the Las Vegas debut of Pharma EXPO, a joint venture between PMMI and the International Society for Pharmaceutical Engineering (ISPE).

Registrants came to see 2006 exhibiting companies representing more than 40 vertical markets in 844,510 net square feet of exhibit space, both records for PACK EXPO Las Vegas.

“Technologies and applications often apply across a range of industries, and the sheer scale of our show fosters manufacturers’ ability to make the connections that lead to true innovation. That phenomenon really sets the PACK EXPO shows apart,” said Jim Pittas, vice president, PMMI.

Of high interest were advances in barrier packaging materials and sealing technology to increase shelf life and safety; innovation in the direct delivery space (for the online retail sector); advances in robotic automation – particularly human collaborative robots – and digital technology on both the processing and pack printing front.
